The 150th LGUSD Anniversary Art Books are a collection of student self- portraits and writings done by K-5 Art students during the 2012-2013 School Year with District Art Teacher, Kelly Martin. There are four books, one for each Elementary School in our district.
A committee of volunteers from the Art Docents of Los Gatos designed the covers of each book. Within the books, you will find portraits by students from each grade level along with their writing placed underneath. These grade level portraits are a demonstration of the skills the students have learned throughout the year in their art lessons with Mrs. Martin. Each self-portrait is aligned to the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards as well as the district art curriculum. With their grade level teacher, the students answered the question, “How will you make a positive impact on the world?”
This question addresses the vision of our district, which embraces Our Community, Our Students, and Our Future. This creative collection showcases students’ perceptions both visually and in written form in a collaborative work of art that can be viewed for years to come.
Art Books are available for you to view in the Blossom Hill, Daves Avenue, Lexington and Van Meter libraries.
