STUDENT LOGO SUBMISSION REQUEST
THE ART DOCENTS OF LOS GATOS
The Art Docents of Los Gatos, an all-volunteer and nonprofit organization, has been teaching art to students in the Los Gatos Union School District since 1973. On the occasion of the Art Docents’ 45th Anniversary, the organization would like to update its logo, used for visibility and positive recognition on different supports, website and documents.
In order to achieve this, the Art Docents are pleased to organize a submission request, open to Los Gatos High School registered students. Holding true to our core values of providing art education to students in our school district, we wanted to give Los Gatos High students the first opportunity to submit their creative designs. We believe that including the students, who have been part of the Art Docents program, is a great way to collaborate and move together into our next 45 years.
The top design that meets the requirements and best represent the ideals of the Art Docents will be awarded $300.00. Honorable mention will be awarded $150.00. Those two designs if so chosen, may be displayed at the student art show in May at Fischer Middle School.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
1) Does the submitted artwork fit the Art Docents missions and values?
2) Is there a creative interpretation of the subject?
3) Is the originality of the work interesting?
4) Is there a consistency with Art Docents overall branding and website?
5) Can it stand the test of time?
To be eligible, the artwork must reflect the student’s feeling about art, and what Art Docents represents in the District.
It must also reflect the Art Docents mission: To provide a sequential art program in the visual arts for all the children in the Los Gatos Union School District. The program includes art history, art criticism and art techniques.
The logo should also reflect Art Docents values: creative thinking, self-expression, self-understanding, aesthetic awareness and sensitivity, appreciation for the individuality of others.
Students must create a clean, innovative and eye catching logo design that will help the organization convey our message to our target audience: schools, teachers, parents and children.
The Art Docents of Los Gatos Logo Art submission is open to all currently registered students in good standing from Los Gatos High School.
The Work Must Be Original:
You must be the creator(s) of the art and image file you submit. The art must be your own original design and not a copy or derivative work of anyone else’s work. If your design is chosen by the Art Docents, you agree to assign the copyright and all intellectual property rights related to your design to the Art Docents in a separate written agreement in return for the reward money, so that the Art Docents can use and adapt your design as their new logo.
A combination mark, combining wordmark or letter mark and a pictorial mark or mascot is a must. But any style will be accepted.
State colors and font used within your design
Although we live in the digital age, there are still a high number of “offline” locations where we may need to resort to a black and white version of our logo. Therefore, the logo should look great in color, grayscale and black & white.
We would like one of the main colors to be red. ( We are currently using: Red hexadecimal color: #b71e1e)
The acceptable file formats are:
- Adobe Photoshop file saved as .TIF, .EPS, or .JPG (B&W or Color, 300 dpi)
Illustrator or FreeHand file saved as .EPS (B&W or Color, Fonts need to beoutlined, Vector Image).
Microsoft Word or Excel documents are NOT acceptable
Logos submitted in an incorrect format or improper file type will have to be resubmitted in the proper format.
All artwork must be submitted electronically, using the link below. If a group of persons worked on the artwork, please include their information in the appropriate spots on the form.
Multiple submission: You may submit up to 4 submissions.
Submission deadline: Artworks may be submitted before midnight PST on March 26, 2018. Submissions will not be accepted after this date.
